Bernard Sullivan was the recipient of the 2011 Wagga Wagga and District Historical Society CSU Scholarship, which involved Bernard in developing an animation for an exhibition at the Museum of the Riverina, Wagga Wagga. The animation production will be submitted by Bernard as a third year assignment for his Bachelor of Arts (animation and visual effects) degree at Charles Sturt University.
AS Bernard explains, “Soldier settlement in the Wagga Wagga district was extensive after both the first and second world wars. There has been limited research done on this in the past and in conjunction with the museum the concept of this animation is to draw the threads together to tell the story of these settlements. The focus of the animation, complimenting other areas in the exhibition is the period from World War I to World War II, looking at the strengths and weaknesses of the original soldier settlement schemes in the area.”
The exhibition is planned for later this year, and it is tentatively scheduled that Bernard will provide an update on the project progress, to Society members, at our August 2012 General Meeting.
