The name of this now important town, often abbreviated to Wagga, is said by the earlv settlers of the district to have been derived from the cry of the crow. Mr. William J. Garland, in a paper he read before the Royal Australian Historical Society in 1913, says that Wagga Wagga is supposed to refer to the peculiar cry of the crow on the wing and old residents who have heard natives say the words, declare that the imitation is “wonderfully like the original”……….
