  • In a second attack of suspected arson and malicious damage this year eight windows were broken and dozens of computers damaged by vandals at Wagga Christian College.
  • Australian of the Year and former Test Cricket, Mark Taylor is pictured in the Daily Advertiser signing his picture in the Wagga Sporting Hall of Fame.
  • A bid to establish a children’s ward at Calvary Hospital by mother of two, Ellen Moore appears to have failed despite a petition with more than 800 signatures presented to Calvary Chief Executive Officer, Ted Coupe.
  • South Wagga Lions Club has been named District 201N4 club of the year for the third year in a row.

  • Wagga Tourism chairman, Michael Maher, said that the Wagga Jazz Festival has become one of the city’s major tourism events generating about $1.3 million in spending and attracting 1693 visitors over three nights.
  • Wagga City Council received an award at this years New South Wales Landcare Awards for committing substantial funding and staff resources to urban salinity.
  • Three new directors, Rod Sheedy, Greg Johnston and Ted Worldon were elected at the Riverina Football Club annual meeting.
  • William (Boyd) Stone and Shayne Graham were elected as Commercial Club Directors succeeding John Gray who retired after five years as president and a director since 1983 and David Font who joined the board last year.
  • Cootamundra Mayor, Paul Braybrooks has replaced Peter Dale as chairman of the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC).

  • Last Year’s top sportsman at St Michael’s, Grahame Kelly congratulated the 1974 sportsman of the year, Louis Berrigan after he received this years coveted trophy.
  • The 1974 HSC exams commenced with 250 Sixth Form students sitting for the English Exam.

  • Member for Wagga, Wal Fife said that ten new homes will be built for key employees of local industries in Wagga, by the Department of Decentralisation and Development, at a cost of $157,000.
  • Mr Austin Seccombe, an original Anzac with the third battalion has died. His funeral service was conducted by Rev Donald Mackenzie Baird of St Andrews Presbyterian Church with Mr Colin Knott, president of the Wagga RSL sub-branch reading the RSL service.
  • Wagga City Alderman, Pat Brassil, will become Junee High School Deputy Principal from the start of next year.
  • A 48-year-old man was fined $100 in Wagga Court for switching price tags on two items purchased from Woolworths.
