Earlier this year Noel Thomson gave a talk designed to help us identify the different architectural designs of Wagga Wagga homes and public buildings. An interesting site highlighted by Noel was one based on “What house is that?- A Guide to Victoria’s Housing Styles“. This site was initially created by Heritage Victoria and the Building Commission in 2004 and republished in 2007 by the Heritage Council of Victoria.
Please click on the following link to access this site, What House is That.
Once you have accessed the site then click on any of the headings listed on the left hand side of the page to learn more.
The “Interactive Neighbourhood” option is the most interesting, allowing us to go inside the buildings and learn more about what characterises each architectural style.
The link first takes you to a moving street scene. Click on any of the buildings to learn more about each style. Buttons along the bottom right reveal some details, whilst clicking on the front door takes us inside. Once inside the buttons along the bottom reveal more details again. The button on the far right will take you back to the external view and then to the street scene if clicked again. A very interesting interactive site.
