Since its formation in February 1931, the Girl Guides have remained a constant presence in the Wagga community.
In December 1930, a community meeting was held where the establishment of a Girl Guide unit in Wagga was discussed, with just nine prospective girls present.
By the end of 1932, Guides had become so popular that two more units were opened: 2nd Wagga (St Johns) and 3rd Wagga (St Andrews).
