Empty Beer Kegs – P E Power

This photo taken at P E Powers transport depot at the Wagga Railway Station shows empty beer kegs which have been collected by P E Power pending transport by rail back to the brewery.

We know they are empty because back then full beer kegs were transported by rail in covered vans or in open trucks covered by tarpaulins to prevent pilfering.

P. E. Power was a very well known carrier for many years in Wagga in an era when rail transport was more commonly used to transport goods to and from Wagga.

Their depot was located on the corner of Edward and Flinders Streets and began during World War I continuing into the 1960’s and beyond.
