Smith and Marks took premises adjoining the Squatters’ Hotel in Fitzmaurice Street in June 1874, opening the London and Liverpool Oyster Saloon and Restaurant.
They advertised fresh oysters, fried fish, hot coffee, the best fruit and meals at all hours.
