From the Daily Advertiser 3rd January 1951. The arrival in Wagga yesterday of the party which is re-enacting the voyage of Sturt and his party down the Murrumbidgee and Murray Rivers was watched by thousands of Wagga citizens. They lined both sides of Baylis Street, and cheered enthusiastically as Grant Taylor (impersonating Sturt) and Rodney Taylor (impersonating George Macleay) proceeded up the street in a whaleboat manned with its full complement. The whaleboat was transferred from a truck to a large hay waggon, at the Farmers’ Home Hotel, and then proceeded on its Journey along Edward Street and up Baylis Street to the Town Hall…..
