The Wagga Wagga & District Historical Society (WWDHS), as we know it today, was formed in August/September 1962.
There had been at least two earlier attempts to launch an historical society, but each had faded into obscurity due to a lack of ongoing support.
The inaugural General Meeting of the contemporary society took place at the Wagga Wagga Teachers’ College, on the 17th September 1962, and we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Society in September of 2012.
