- After 32 years of service and 22 floods, Colin Knott, has retired as the State Emergency Service’s Murrumbidgee division controller.
- Well-known local newspaper photographer, Gordon Wright has died after a long illness.
- The Presentation Sisters who have run Mt Erin since 1876 have referred their dispute with the Bishop of Wagga, William Brennan to the Holy See at the Vatican.
- Gezina Kolder, aged 73 who says “you can never be too old to learn” was the sole Wagga student to sit the HSC Indonesian exam.
- Tooheys Ltd represented by sales executive, Joe Adams and sales manager Ian Jack presented a cheque for $68,000 to Brian Short, divisional controller from the Murrumbidgee division of the State Emergency Service.
- Group Captain David Judge is the new Officer Commanding RAAF Base Wagga following on from Group Captain Bob Bennett.
- A central Wagga three bedroom circa 1920 house in Gurwood Street was sold for $138,000 at auction by Peter Davies Real Estate.
- Wagga and District Cricket Association president, Kevin Wales supported selector Steve Stapleton in calling for greater penalties on players who withdraw from representative teams.
- Ron Russell, secretary of the Calvary area Neighbourhood Watch group has called for 16 and 17-year-old juveniles appearing in court to be identified in an effort to reduce Wagga’s crime rate.
- A 20-year-old man was arrested in relation to a vicious baseball bat assault at the Ashmont Hotel.
- Justice Michael Kirby gave the Merrylees Memorial Lecture at Charles Sturt University calling for an end to the republican push in favour of retaining the constitutional monarchy.
- Animal rights protesters gathered outside the entrance to Silver’s Circus in Wagga.

- Wreaths were placed on the Cenotaph by President of the Wagga RSL, Mr H Fife and representatives of many other organisations during the annual Remembrance Day ceremony.
- Helen Frisby and Ald E Geoghegan are the only women to nominate for upcoming Wagga City Council elections.
- Five of the first seven places on the Council election ballot have gone to “new” candidates with a total of 21 candidates nominating.
- Bob Ashton, Secretary of the Wagga Tennis Association presented the Wagga schoolboys senior tennis championship trophy to Robert Adams from Trinity High School.
- Mark Childe was elected as president and David Harmer as vice-president at the Wagga Jaycees annual general meeting.
- A large crowd at Kyeamba Smith Hall heard Community Advancement Fund chairman, Warwick Tomkins, announce 18-year-old trainee accountant, Dawn Lowe as Miss Wagga 1969.
- 200 bank officers attending a Wagga meeting voted to support a campaign by the Australian Bank Officials Association for a 25% wage rise.
- Ian Bell and John Mercer of Bells Soft Drinks are pictured in the Daily Advertiser with trophies donated by Bells for the Wagga Gift meeting to be run this week at the Eric Weissel Oval.
- Lorrae Desmond is featured with Col Forrell’s Show Band at the Wagga Leagues Club.
- A total of $3400 has been raised to date for the rebuilding of the Tulloch Memorial Presbyterian Hostel for Boys.
