In 1992 the Daily Advertiser reported that Wagga based Kendell Airlines had been named Regional Airline of the Year by Air Transport World magazine only the second time that the award has been won by a non-US airline.
Regional/commuter editor of Air Transport World, Robert Moorman, said the founder of the airline, Don Kendell was a true pioneer in regional airline service and his airline had a tremendous reputation for providing quality, on time service.
Kendell is still run by Mr Kendell, who has watched the airline grow steadily from a one-aircraft operation flying between Wagga and Melbourne to a multi-million dollar operation with 14 aircraft serving more than 20 destinations in four states and the Northern Territory.
Kendell flies nearly 400,000 passengers annually, controls assets of more than $50 million and has 22 booking offices and 80 accredited travel agents.
