Fitzmaurice Street c.1930’s

fitz-to-sthFitzmaurice Street looking south towards Lagoon bridge c.1930s with Fosseys on the corner and Kelly and Cunningham a few doors down.

Notice also the substantial building currently occupied by Boyce Accountants behind the large street trees on the corner of Fitzmaurice and Johnston Streets. Back in the thirties it would have been the Union Bank which built and first occupied the building in 1885. The Union Bank merged with the Bank of Australasia to form the ANZ Bank in 1951.
