Eileen Day50 Years ago in the Daily Advertiser “The Woman of the Year” Miss Eileen Day (centre) is pictured with the past and present presidents of the Wagga Quota Club, Miss Flo Hopwood (right) and Mrs Yvonne Vernon.

Miss Day received the award at the eighth annual installation of the Quota Club held at Romano’s hotel and she was chosen for the honour in appreciation of her continued service to the community.

Now well advanced in years, she still assists in numerous projects conducted for charity and by her Church.

Until about 20 years ago she and her late sister conducted the Wagga Grammar School.

In fact several members of the Wagga Quota Club are her ex-students.

This was the second time that the Quota Club has named a “Woman of the Year” the first one being last year when the Mayoress, Mrs I J Jack received the award.
