Lennon Collection CSURA 1574

School Boys, probably from St Michaels High School in Church Street, crossing Fitzmaurice Street in the 1960s. The building behind was the Bank of NSW (Westpac) now occupied by Farrell Lusher Solicitors.

A Roman Catholic denominational school was established at St Michaels Church in 1864 and in more recent times became a Regional High School for boys. From 1966 St Michaels High School decided to combine resources for senior classes with Mt Erin High School for girls and this became Trinity Senior High School in 1968.

There were 535 students enrolled at St Michaels High School in 1972.

In 2003 St Michaels High School, Mt Erin High School and Trinity Senior High School all closed to become part of Kildare Catholic College, on the Mount Erin site, and Mater Dei College on a new site in the Lakehaven area which both commenced in 2004. Both of these schools are coeducational with students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Watermark retirement villages are built on the former site of St Michaels Regional High School
