- The Golden Gown Awards Committee presented Rod Parsons with a gold lapel pin in appreciation of his 18 years’ service to the committee and active support of many other local organisations.
- Kapooka Commandant, Colonel David Buchanan has been posted to the Australian College of Defence and Strategic Studies in Canberra.
- Visiting cancer specialist, Dr Derek Berg said plans to install radiotherapy units in both Wagga and Albury are being thwarted by Albury interests seeking a unit in the border city alone.
- Seven Scouting districts have merged to form one “Riverina Area” with Riverina Regional Scouts Commissioner, Don Donnelly pictured in the Daily Advertiser with the new badge replacing the former district badges.
- Businessman, Peter Davies appealed to Australia Post to drop any thoughts it has about closing two existing outlets in favour of a single shop in the new Marketplace.
- After two and a half years as Wagga Visitors Centre manager, Roger Ansell has resigned to revert to his first love – music.
- Wagga Netball Association accused Wagga City Council of prejudice against women’s sport in planned developments at the Equex Exhibition Centre.

- Daily Advertiser, chief-of-staff, Simon Terry has been included in a Rotary International Group Study Exchange team to visit the United States.
- The Mayor of Wagga, Ald Morris Gissing inspected the guard from Kapooka during this weeks Beating of the Retreat opposite the Wagga City Council Chambers.
- Wagga City Council has increased Wagga Abattoir’s charges by 10% following a recommendation from Abattoir Manager, Mr Leo Bird.
- Cathy Atkins, Peter Mahoney, Sue Ludwig and Shane McCoy were among those attending the Trinity Senior High School Ball.
- A time capsule was placed by Mt Erin School principal, Sister M Benedicta in the foundation of a new library-science complex being built at the school.
- Two Wagga businessmen and their wives, Carlo and Franca Donebus and Nikolas and Anastasia Tsipiras received their Australian citizenship in a ceremony conducted by Wagga’s Mayor, Ald M H Gissing.
- Several Nurses at Wagga Base Hospital who achieved a 100% pass rate in the NSW Nurses Board Registration Examinations are pictured in the Daily Advertiser this week.

- Wagga businessmen voted to retain a five and a half day trading week with the possibility of extended trading either Saturday morning or a weeknight.
- More than 30 people attended the final night of a public speaking course organised by Wagga Rostrum Club.
- The annual triples tournament sponsored by South Wagga Rotary Club and played on the greens of the four Wagga bowling clubs raised $370 for the Kurrajong School for Retarded Children.
