- A Wagga woman who gave a false name and failed to submit to a breath analysis was fined $1500 and disqualified from driving for three years.
- Judy Le Lievre has retired as director of the Wagga City Art Gallery after 17 years in the position.
- South Wagga Bowling Clubs No. 1 pennant side won its way into the State play-offs.
- Wagga and District Bowling Association President, Linsay Barker presented Super Veterans badges to South Wagga Bowling Club members Fred Markham and Wal Mitchell.

- Spokesman, Mike Murray said that this year’s Operation Wagga Warmth had been successful with more than 40 volunteers from service clubs, charities, emergency services and armed services helping to collect items.

- Problems associated with the rezoning of North Wagga were discussed in talks between Wagga City Council and Government departments in Sydney however the Mayor, Ald M Gissing stressed on his return that the situation at North Wagga remained unchanged.
- Wagga clergy held a dedication service for Wagga’s new cemetery and crematorium however use of the cemetery still hinges of formal approval from the Minister of Public Health.
- Patron of the Wagga Leagues Club Tennis Club, Jim Harmon, presented a life membership certificate to Mrs E Mercer at the club’s annual trophy night held in the Leagues Club, Elizabeth Lounge.
- Retiring president Phil Engelbrecht handed the club charter to incoming president Col Levick at the Wagga Lions Club Changeover Dinner.
- 538 people, including the Mayor, Morris Gissing, took an active part in the Wagga 20 Mile Walk Against Want.
- Ron Harris was made a life member of the RSL for his services to the Wagga branch.
- Matilda Kenneally, the oldest Wagga born resident still living, celebrated her 90th birthday at her home in Docker Street with her son, Ken Kenneally.

- Malcolm McEachern, President of the Wagga and District Car Club accepted a trophy and cheque from Mr Robert Hartwig as winner of the Club’s June car trial which was sponsored by Hartwig’s Motors.
- Wagga High’s University Shield team including centre, Lew Butcher is flying to Sydney this weekend to play Lurnea High in the quarter finals.
- Huthwaite’s are selling half-gallon vanilla ice cream for 68 cents, Campbells 15 oz soups for 18 cents and Weston’s assorted cream biscuits 16 oz for 29 cents.
