- McEwan’s Hardware operations manager, Malcolm McCullough travelled to Wagga from Melbourne to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the company’s Wagga store with local staff at a staff reunion and dinner dance held at the Wagga Commercial Club.
- Wagga Business Machines in Forsyth Street are advertising a Brother Laser Fax Machine for $1995 a Canon copier for $1595 and a Desktop Fax Machine for $685.
- Wagga cyclist Josh Collingwood is pictured in the Daily Advertiser with his grandmothers, Joyce Demmery and Dawn Collingwood after winning the Sid Demmery Memorial road race named in honour of his grandfather.
- The Wagga Leagues Club Slimmers formed by Mavis Helyar in 1970 is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
- Riverina Cricket officials voted overwhelmingly to keep the area’s most prestigious trophy, the O’Farrell Cup, under Wagga’s control.
- Geoff Amos, president of the Wagga Teachers Association presented Tolland Public School captains Phillip LeLievre and Emily Nolan with a grant from the Teachers Federation Tree Levy which will be used to beautify the school grounds.
- Greg Dyson represented South Wagga Rotary at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) held in Bathurst. He is pictured in the Daily Advertiser with Club president, Neil McMullen and Youth Director, Harry Wilson.
- More than 40 teams competed on the East Bomen Reserve in the Wagga Polocrosse Club’s annual tournament.
- Joyce McKee and Norma Richardson from Wagga Commercial Club won the Central Riverina District Women’s Bowling Association championship pairs final.
- Wagga teenager Megan Taylor won five gold, one silver and two bronze medals competing in ten events at the National Karate Championships in Sydney.

- With less than three months to the next local government elections seven Wagga City Councillors, Pat Brassil, Geoff Burch, Jim Eldridge, John Harding, Roger Gregory, Peter Dale and Colin Rush have indicated that they will be re-nominating for election.
- More than 150 people are travelling to Wagga for to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the Wagga Adventist School, founded in 1954.

- Australia’s Rugby League Coach, Arthur Summons returned home to Wagga after touring Great Britain where Australia won 37-15 in a Test Match.
- Wagga Quota Club held a street stall in Gurwood Street near J J Speirs with home-made cakes, jams, and pickles, vegetables, pot plants and paper flowers of all colours.
- South Wagga Rotary and Wagga Apex Clubs presented cheques to Hospital Board Chairman Les Kennedy for the purchase of a blood storage refrigerator for the Wagga Blood Bank.
- More than 450 Scouts and Wagga Jaycees combined in a major clean-up campaign in the City.
- A new $9000 recreation hall at Gumleigh Boy’s Home was opened and dedicated by Rev G Wilson of Wagga.
- Country Club Golf Club professional Richard Beer conducted a coaching session for young golfers.
- District Dairy Officer, Mr J B Chittick said that in the Wagga District, butter production had increased by 31% and milk production by 3% in May this year compared to last year.
- Wagga Pastures Protection Board chairman, Mr J W Holden said that the Board would prosecute people who persisted in dumping rubbish on the Board’s reserves.
- President of Kooringal Rotary, Mr Greg Knight is pictured in the Daily Advertiser presenting a portable television a prize in a recent Club Art Union to Mr Ted Brewer.
- Manfolds in Baylis Street have ladies’ skirts priced from $4, frocks from $14 and overcoats from $25.
- About 500 people watched as forty-two debutantes were presented to Wr. Br. Frank Bateman and Mrs Bateman at the Wagga Masonic Ball held in the Kyeamba Smith Hall.
- Wagga Municipal Abattoir manager, Mr L Bird said that the ban on Australian mutton by Canada was not posing a major threat or worry to the Wagga Abattoir.
- President of the Wagga City Golf Club, Mr Les Bagley is pictured with his wife and Mr and Mrs Stanton at the Clubs dinner dance. Mrs Stanton is president of the Associates at the club.
