- State Rail regional manager, Dick Smith, said there had been a “good level” of interest shown in the development of an intermodal container terminal at the Bomen railyard.
- The inaugural Wagga Swap Meet to be held later in July has 200 stall sites already booked.
- Hardy’s store in Wagga has been sold to Hudson Timber and Hardware.
- Partners at Adams Keneally White and Co, Michael McCormack, John Wright, John Mason and Rodney Parsons have presented a cheque for $25,000 to Wagga Hospital Board chairman, Harry Hutton for the Hospitals special equipment appeal.
- Wagga City Council rejected two requests from owners of the Sturt Mall to prevent vehicle and pedestrian access from the Sturt Mall car park to Wonderland Lane.
- Wagga City Council set the annual Mayoral Allowance at $25,082 which is in addition to the allowance paid to Councillors but includes the cost of mayoral receptions.
- Charles Sturt University Chancellor and Wagga district grazier, David Asimus is taking up a position on the board of directors of Wesfarmers Ltd.
- Wagga and District Trades and Labor Council secretary, Geoff Lawler has called for apprentices employed by the Riverina Group Apprentice Scheme to come forward if they believed their training was not adequately supervised.
- 6th Wagga Rover Crew and Wagga Girl Guides took part in an abseiling demonstration at the Pioneer Quarry.
- Don Kendell presented Malcolm Nixon with first prize, a trip for two to Tasmania, in a raffle raising funds for asthma research and equipment organised by the Nineteen Nineties Committee.
- Peter Page is incoming president of Kooringal Rotary following on from Henry Gardiner while Colin Butt, outgoing president at Wollundry Rotary has welcomed incoming President, Rick Priest.
- Tolland Public School teacher, Anne Browning is one of four teachers in NSW selected to take part in unique environmental research expeditions to Kangaroo Island.
- Victorious, Wagga City Bowling Club No 4 pennant side captain, Roy Sanders accepted the club’s pennant from Junee president, Linsay Barker.
- Wagga High School Principal, Joe Allen and Ryan Gooden from the student representative council presented year 8 student, Joshua Frankham, 13, with a colour television for his efforts in raising $701 for the Cancer Council.
- Raegan Smith-Lester won the Kooringal Scout Groups monster raffle.
- Wagga apprentices, Brenton Kramer and Ron Zaboyak were awarded first and second places in the recent regional Workskills Australia competition.

- Riverina people will now pay an extra 40 cents, a rise of 16.6%, to visit a Doctor says the NSW branch of the Australian Medical Association.
- Five people were charged with drunken driving after the breathalyser squad made its first visit to Wagga.
- Christian Brothers won the first round of the Scott Shield when Laurie Chartres drop kicked a field goal, minutes from the end of the game at Eric Weissel Oval.
- Mr J F Bingham, former South-West Area Director of Education is the first member to be appointed to an interim council to plan the proposed College of Advanced Education at Wagga.
- Sue Salmon of Wagga won the Miss Teachers College title and was presented with her sash by College Principal, Mr M Hale.
- The Wagga Jaycees Taxdodgers’ Ball was held at the Wagga Boat Club with Robyn Dennis, Ian Nesbitt and Mr & Mrs Bert Schmidt pictured dancing in the Daily Advertiser.
- Fourteen-years-old Norma Bell-Chambers has been selected in the NSW under 16 girls basketball team.
- A merger road has been constructed to improve traffic flow and safety where the Sturt Highway joins the Hume Highway.
- Mr G J Fitzpatrick has been elected to the Board of Management of the Real Estate Institute of NSW.
- At least eight groups are competing in the big Battle of the Sounds heat at the Wagga Civic Theatre.
- Wagga Chamber of Commerce described the city’s footpath sweeper as a “hazard” to pedestrians travelling, too fast and used too early in the night.
- Mr John Bagley is pictured in the Daily Advertiser cutting the cake at his twenty-first birthday.
- Medical Superintendent, Mr C Smith said that there is a chronic shortage of beds at Wagga Base Hospital.
