· Mayor, Pat Brassil has called a meeting of concerned Trail and Best Street residents to explain options for traffic flow off and on the proposed new Travers Street bridge.
· CR Bob Osborne launched a strong attack on “tyrannical” fuel taxes at a Wagga City Council works committee meeting after it was reported that a dwindling level of rising fuel taxes was being spent on roads.
· Members of the Independent Teachers Association are concerned by a seven-point plan for the future of Wagga’s Catholic Education announced by Vicar Forane of the Wagga Diocese, Monsignor William Fulton.
· Coordinator of the Community Visitors Scheme, Jo Schulz, is confident that the Scheme will soon be implemented in local nursing homes.
· Long-time chairman of the Southern Riverina Electricity and Water, Rob Yates plans to step down at next month’s annual general meeting.
· Newly appointed president of the Wagga Chamber of Commerce, NRMA manager, Michael Wynne is “looking forward to getting involved in the local business community”.
· Year 11 Mt Austin High School Student, Mandy Miosge was presented with a Pierre De Coubertin award from the Australian Olympic Committee recognising her excellent performances in cross-country, softball and touch football.
· Member for Wagga, Joe Schipp presented the Riverina Academy of Sport with an annual grant of $40,000.
· Dr Alan Cotterill on behalf of the Community Consultative Committee on Tobacco, Alcohol and other Drugs presented a “smoke free certificate” to McDonald’s Wagga Manager, Jeff Gestier.
· Hundreds of people crowded the Wagga Crematorium Chapel in honour of President of the regional “Rats of Tobruk Association”, Essex Walter George Neville-Ross who died after a short battle with cancer.
· Wagga’s Senior Citizens Community Club was presented with a new Australian flag by member for Riverina, Noel Hicks.

· A new building has been constructed for MLC by the Buckman Building Group on the site previously occupied by Whites Shoe Store on the corner of Fitzmaurice and Gurwood Streets.
· Space at this year’s Wagga Show has been completely booked out and extra commercial space has been allotted.
· Wagga’s mayor, Ald R J Harris said Wagga could have natural gas supplies “fairly soon” and almost certainly before Sydney.
· Wagga’s water consumption in 1967 was 22.7 per cent higher than in 1965, the previous record year.
· South Wagga Apex Club is hosting the Zone 2 Apex Convention which will be officially opened in St Johns Hall by Mr Talbot Duckmanton, General Manager of the ABC.
· Mt Austin Public School students gave an impressive marching display at the Wagga PSAAA athletics carnival held at Gissing Oval.
· Mr and Mrs Ron Francis are pictured in the Daily Advertiser attending the Leagues Club Ball in the Club’s Auditorium.
· President of the Royal NSW Bowling Association, Don Bray, visited Wagga and met with Wal Blake. President of the Wagga District Bowling Association and other local officials.
· Wagga firm, Siebels Concrete Constructions Pty Ltd has won a contract for construction of a concrete bridge over Billabong Creek on the Hume Highway.
· 28 pupils of the Wagga Christian Brothers High School visited Sydney recently with school principal, Brother Farrell where they met with local member and Minister for Mines, Wal Fife.
· Mr Bob Condon of the Department of Labour and National Service announced that a District Productivity Group has been formed in Wagga.
