- Michael Flanigan was named as Turvey Park Australian Rules Football Clubs reserve grade best and fairest player at the Bulldogs’ presentation night.
- Saleyards manager, Kevin Watts said that sheep and lambs are selling in near-record numbers at Bomen with numbers reaching almost 50,000 this week.
- Wagga’s two rural Councillors, Cr Ron Harris and Cr Bob Osborne clashed during a Council Works committee meeting over competing priorities for expenditure on country roads.
- Year 12 students, Jenni Skewes, Carolyn Taylor, Michelle Fondacaro, Rebecca Jack, and Natasha O’Keefe are pictured in the Daily Advertiser celebrating at the Mount Austin School Formal.
- The Mount Erin High School class of 1944 held a reunion at the Mount Erin Convent over the weekend.
- A proposed mixed residential development of the Gowland’s Body Works site, at the northern end of Fitzmaurice Street, orchestrated by Peter Pascoe could see the construction of 75 urban dwellings.
- Wagga’s Catholic Diocese purchased the Wagga Bowling Club site for $1.025 million.
- Mayor, Pat Brassil hosted a civic welcome for 1994 Miss Wagga, Sondra Kremerskothen and Community Princess Jeanette Baillie who have recently returned from their overseas trip as ambassadors for Wagga.
- A survey of Wagga businesses has found that 95% of respondents want the main street alcohol-free zone to continue.
- Veteran’s Games president, Milton Breust has called for more locals to compete in the Australian Veterans Games to be held in Wagga in March 1996.
- Chairman of the Riverina Driver Training centre, Mr Gordon Braid said that plans for a $6 million driver training centre in Wagga have been set back by the Federal Government’s rejection of a major funding application.
- A learn to sail course is being held over five Saturdays at the Wagga Boat Club.
- Wagga’s national art glass collection has been enhanced by several donations valued at more than $25,000.
- More than 40 women representing organisations from across the Riverina met in Wagga at a conference held to discuss rural women’s issues.

- A crowd of more than 800 onlookers saw Norman Bunt consume 19 pies in 15 minutes to win the Riverina Pie eating competition organised jointly by South Wagga Apex and the Ambulance Younger set.
- Bishop of Wagga, Dr F P Carroll is seeking a new attitude towards Aborigines saying that too many people took a patronising attitude to Aboriginals, as though they were “second rate human beings.”
- Diane Jensen carried her great-grandmother’s lace handkerchief as the traditional “something old” for her marriage to Kerry Pascoe at St John’s Church.
- Sid Ward from Rava’s set up a radio transmitter for about 150 boy scouts taking part in the Jamboree of the Air.
- Vicki Begg was announced as the Riverina’s first Miss Groove at a dance held at the old RSL Club.
- Ron Littlewood became the first Wagga cricket player to top one hundred this season with an unbeaten 134 in the game against Country at Robertson Oval.
- Executive Officer, Mr Frank Saxon presented Mr Ian Bell with a warrant as the Boy Scouts, Wagga District Commissioner with Mr R A Johnson president of the Wagga District Scouting Association looking on.
- Mayor, Ald R J Harris opened the Quota Clubs District Conference at the Wagga Commercial Club.
- President of the Wagga Rescue Club, Sgt Neville Tamlyn and seven club members attended the Rescue Clubs conference in Sydney.
- Frozen crinkle cut chips are just 27 cents for 16oz and Fish Fingers in a packet of ten just 38 cents at Huthwaites Food Fair.
- Heinz strained junior foods are just 6 cents each in the 4.5 oz can at David Jones.
- Mark Childe, president of the Wagga Jaycees Club presented a cheque for $150 to Jack Skeers, president of the Phillip Pumpa Appeal Committee.
- About 80 surgeons are attending the sixth annual meeting in Wagga of the Provincial Surgeons Association of Australia.
- An application by Mayor Ald R J Harris to reduce the unimproved capital value of his home site from $3,000 to $2250 was rejected by a three-man tribunal sitting in Wagga Council Chambers.
