- Highly respected journalist and public relations officer, Brian Sheppard, who was aged 52 died in his Wagga home after a brief illness.
- Jamie Bagley, co-owner of the popular Bagley’s restaurant married the restaurant’s maître d’hôtel, Tedra Miller at the Mount Erin Chapel before about 130 guests.
- Mount Austin High School graduate, Fiona Doolan, received an award of excellence from Education Minister Virginia Chadwick recognising outstanding academic achievement.
- Wagga writer, poet, and Charles Sturt University senior lecturer, David Gilbey, is a finalist in the “Poetry Olympics” to be held at the Sydney Opera House.
- Lindy Hackett, who was one of seven Wagga TAFE students competing in the cocktail competition at the International Catering Trade Fair held in Sydney, was awarded second place, winning a trophy and a $250 prize.
- Bill Hurd, founder, and patron of Kurrajong-Waratah Industries has died in Melbourne aged 93.

- About 50 young golf enthusiasts are attending a week-long coaching school in Wagga organised by the Riverina Golf Association and the Rothman’s National Sports Foundation.
- Mr. M E Beatton has started work as the new Principal at Wagga High School.
- A Wagga taxi driver was convicted on two fraud charges after telling police he had been attacked and robbed by an unseen assailant.
- A pack of savage dogs fatally mauled two lambs and two ewes on the Wagga High School farm.
- One person has been killed and 13 others injured in another black weekend on Riverina roads.
- Fays are advertising Bata school shoes in the Daily Advertiser, priced from $5.99 for boys and $6.99 for girls.
- Chairman of the Interim Council for the proposed Riverina College of Advanced Education, Mr. Peter Hastie said that a college principal would be appointed as soon as possible with the position to be advertised throughout Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
- Well known Wagga curate, Father G. Iverson, has been transferred to Griffith after almost six years in Wagga.

- District Employment Officer, Mr. R L Condon, said that Wagga has a higher number of unemployed women than most NSW country towns because of a lack of industry.

- The new Salvation Army Corps Officer for Wagga is Captain Arthur Price who has previously served in Bowral and Albury.
