- Mrs Lena Flynn of Flowerdale, a well-known figure in Wagga since settling in the region with her husband Gerry in the 1940’s has died, aged 90 years.
- Wagga Tenpin Bowl is celebrating its 30th birthday taking part in the 30th annual association championships with bowlers from five states.
- Assistant Manager at Wagga Tenpin Bowl, Peter Wilkins, is also celebrating his 30th year in the bowling industry.
- NSW Bowling Association, Bill Trethowan congratulated Wagga Commercial Club president, Hall Weston on a “job well done” during his Presidents’ Day.
- Unions representing academic staff at Charles Sturt University have called for the suspension of University vice-chancellor, Professor Cliff Blake.

- Woolworths have purchased the Baylis Street site occupied by Hardy’s Hardware with Hardy’s to relocate their hardware and building supplies undertaking to their joinery in Chaston Street.
- The Astor Hotel-Motel built seven years ago on the corner of Edward Street and Station Place has been sold to a local syndicate headed by Kevin Madigan for an undisclosed price.
- Brother Hamilton of Wagga’s Christian Brothers College was first to complete Wagga’s 20-mile “Walk Against Want” which raised $7000 for Community Aid Abroad.
- Wagga Teachers College was confirmed as the site for the Riverina College of Advanced Education following the acquisition of additional land from Turvey Park Australian Rules Football Club.
- Former world bantamweight champion boxer, Jimmy Carruthers visited Wagga to discuss Friday night fights at the Wagga Leagues Club.
- Minister for Mines, Wal Fife met with the Mayors’ National Gas Pipeline Committee including Ald. Harris, Ald. C Bunton, Cr. L W Greenwood and Mr C Krummel but failed to provide any definite results.
- Chris Gallagher is the inaugural president of Wagga’s new Rotaract Club with Ian Duff as vice-president, Diane Everson as secretary and Peter Duff as treasurer.
- 15-year-old Daryl Cartwright from Wagga High School is the only country prize winner in the University of NSW, 1969 Junior School Mathematics Competition.
- President of the Wagga High School P. and C. Association, Mr Bill Blackall, said that only 30 per cent of parents have contributed donations to the group.
- Ian Bell has followed on from Morris Gissing as District Commissioner of the Wagga District Boy Scouts Association with Mr R A Johnson as chairman of the District Scouts Association.
- The RSL Anglers Club held its Presentation Night at the RSL Club with Mr and Mrs Buck Deadman winning the Champion Angler Award and Mr & Mrs Jim Harrold the biggest Redfin Champion.
- Apex is seeking donations of household goods, clothing, glassware and books for its Monster Auction to aid Gumleigh Boys Home.
- Teachers College lecturer Arthur Trewin has won an Australian Book Publishers’ design award for his new mathematics textbook.
- Robbie Nolan received a Pelaco shirt as best and fairest player from his Turvey Park teammate, Alan Grentell who works at David Jones.
- G. and E. Rose’s Central Wagga Autoport has installed an almost completely automatic car washing machine.
