- Director of Medical Services at Wagga Base Hospital, Dr Joe McGirr, said National Party Leader and Member for Farrer, Tim Fischer, was very lucky to have survived a two-car collision at Lockhart.
- Higher School Certificate results arrived by post with many students collecting their results from the mail centre in Forsyth Street from as early as 6.30am.
- Julian Donovan from Trinity Senior High School had Wagga’s top Higher School Certificate score with a Tertiary Entrance Score of 99.8
- 73-year-old, Gezina Kolder from Wagga gained a mark of 73 in her Indonesian exam placing her in the top 10% of the state for the subject.
- Wagga dentist, Peter Crozier was elected recently as State president of the Australian Dental Association.
- Four men will face Wagga Local Court after they allegedly stole about 80 kg of meat valued at $500 from Cargill Foods Abattoir at Bomen.
- Wagga cyclist, Shane Menz won three gold medals at the NSW State track championships.
- A Wagga man was jailed for three months for bashing a priest at St Michael’s presbytery.

- Mr P Smith, SM dismissed a charge of speeding against a racing car driver who drove on the Olympic Way at 75 mph deciding that the driver had proven that his driving was not dangerous to the public.
- The Wagga Beach Life Saving Club wants improvements to Wagga Beach including lights in the ladies dressing sheds.
- YCW dance this Friday night is at St Joseph’s Hall featuring Optic Nerve. Admission is 60 cents.
- Former Wagga High School student, Colin Westman was placed equal eighth in the State for Mathematics and equal 56th in Science.
- Wagga won the Hedditch Cup from holders, Griffith by a wicket and six runs with Wagga’s stars being A Smith and G Corben.
- TAA aircraft are refuelling at Forest Hill Airport which is the last refuelling base for planes in NSW following a strike by TAA ground staff.
- Mr Allan Plummer from Cooma has succeeded Mr R Hetherington as Wagga’s new District Conservationist.
- Wagga detective Det. Sgt. A McIllree has been transferred as Detective Sergeant in charge to Kempsey after almost 14 years in the Riverina.
- Commanding Officer, Air Commodore G F De La Rue welcomed more than 150 apprentices beginning a two-and-a-half-year training course at Forest Hill RAAF Base.
